Apple’s next iPhone lineup is still a few months away, but the iPhone 17 Air is already making headlines — and this time, it’s about just how incredibly thin it might be. A new leak has surfaced online showing what’s claimed to be a dummy unit of the iPhone 17 Air, and it suggests Apple is pushing the limits of smartphone design.

A video, posted by tech YouTuber Lewis Hilsenteger of Unbox Therapy, shows that the iPhone 17 Air measures just 5.65mm. If this turns out to be true, then the 17 Air would be even slimmer than a standard wooden pencil, which is typically around 6mm in diameter. While earlier reports suggested the Air could be as thin as 5.5mm, this slight difference is unlikely to matter to users holding it in hand.
