Dubai | January 29 :
USA cricketer Aaron Jones faces serious disciplinary action after authorities charged him with breaching the anti-corruption codes of Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC). As a result, officials suspended him from all forms of cricket with immediate effect.
According to the ICC website, Jones has 14 days to respond to the five charges levelled against him.
Charges Stem from Bim10 Tournament
Most of the charges relate to the Bim10 Tournament 2023–24, which falls under the jurisdiction of the CWI Anti-Corruption Code. In addition, two charges relate to international matches governed by the ICC Code.
At the time, Jones was training in Sri Lanka with a group of 18 USA players as part of preparations for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Specific Allegations Against Jones
Investigators have charged Jones with multiple offences. Firstly, authorities allege that he attempted to influence the outcome and conduct of matches in the Bim10 Tournament.
Secondly, officials claim that he failed to report approaches inviting corrupt conduct to Cricket West Indies. Furthermore, investigators allege that Jones did not cooperate fully with the anti-corruption inquiry.
Under the ICC Code, Jones also allegedly failed to disclose corrupt approaches to the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit. Moreover, authorities accuse him of obstructing the investigation by concealing or tampering with relevant information.
ICC Confirms Wider Probe
Meanwhile, the ICC confirmed that the case forms part of a broader investigation. As a result, officials expect additional charges against other individuals in due course.
The governing body stated that Jones remains provisionally suspended and must submit his response within the stipulated 14-day period starting January 28, 2026.
