Bulawayo | January 28 :
India continued their dominant run at the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, registering their fourth consecutive victory with a massive 204-run win over hosts Zimbabwe U-19.
With this win, India U-19 maintained a perfect record in the tournament and moved closer to securing a semi-final berth. India have earlier defeated the USA, Bangladesh, and New Zealand.
India Post Massive 352/8
Batting first, India produced a commanding performance and posted 352/8, the fourth-highest total of the tournament so far.
Notably, this was India’s first full 50-over innings in the competition and their first win not affected by the DLS method.
Vihaan Malhotra Shines With Match-Winning Hundred
Batter Vihaan Malhotra emerged as the Player of the Match after scoring an unbeaten 109*.
His innings laid the foundation for India’s overwhelming total.
India U-19 captain Ayush Mhatre praised Malhotra’s consistency and confidence.
“Vihaan is really doing well. He was in great form even before the World Cup, and we are confident in his batting,” Mhatre said after the match.
Bowlers Seal Comfortable Victory
India’s bowlers ensured there was no fightback from Zimbabwe.
- Ayush Mhatre: 3/14
- Udhav Mohan: 3/20
- R.S. Ambrish: 2/19
The disciplined bowling effort bundled out Zimbabwe quickly, sealing a comprehensive win.
Momentum Building Ahead of Big Clash
Reflecting on the performance, Mhatre said the team aims to carry the momentum forward.
“This match was really good for us. The boys are doing well, and we want to continue this form,” he said.
Depending on other results, India may have already booked a place in the semi-finals.
However, the focus now shifts to a high-voltage clash against arch-rivals Pakistan U-19.
“The boys are excited. We will just play our game and stay focused,” Mhatre added.
