New Delhi, March 10: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a massive ₹131 crore cash reward for Team India after their historic victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla congratulated the players, support staff, and selectors for their remarkable achievement.
Speaking about the announcement, Shukla said the ₹131 crore reward is the largest prize money ever given by the BCCI to the Indian cricket team for a tournament victory.
“I congratulate everyone from the players to the support staff. This is the biggest reward amount given to Team India so far,” Rajeev Shukla said while speaking to reporters.
BCCI Announces Historic Reward for T20 World Cup Champions
The BCCI confirmed the reward in an official statement following India’s successful campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of ₹131 crore for Team India following their triumphant campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026,” the statement said.
The board also congratulated the team, coaching staff, and selectors for their dedication and outstanding performance throughout the tournament.
India Creates History in T20 World Cup Final
Team India delivered an exceptional performance in the final match against New Zealand, successfully defending a huge total to win the tournament.
India posted 255/5 in the final, the highest total ever in a T20 World Cup final.
Key performances came from:
- Sanju Samson, who scored a brilliant half-century
- Abhishek Sharma, who played a quick attacking innings
- Ishan Kishan, who added crucial runs in the middle overs
Their contributions helped India cross the 200-run mark well before the final overs.
Powerful Batting Performance from Team India
Abhishek Sharma played a sensational knock of 52 runs off just 21 balls, hitting six fours and three sixes. He also built a 98-run partnership with Sanju Samson, giving India a strong start.
Sanju Samson later formed a century partnership with Ishan Kishan, who scored 54 runs from 25 balls with four boundaries and four sixes.
In the final overs, Shivam Dube smashed 26 runs from just eight balls, pushing India’s total to a massive 255 runs.
New Zealand’s James Neesham was the leading wicket-taker for his side with 3 wickets for 46 runs.
Indian Bowlers Dominate the Final
India’s bowlers delivered a brilliant performance while defending the huge total.
Axar Patel picked up three wickets for 23 runs, while Jasprit Bumrah produced a stunning spell of 4 wickets for just 15 runs.
Their early breakthroughs reduced New Zealand to 72/5, putting the Indian team firmly in control of the match.
Although Tim Seifert scored 52 runs off 26 balls, New Zealand failed to build strong partnerships.
The Indian bowling attack continued taking wickets at regular intervals and eventually bowled out New Zealand for 159 runs.
India won the final by 96 runs, securing a dominant victory.
