Bihar Assembly Election 2025 Phase 1 voting has begun today across 121 assembly seats in 14 districts. Polling started at 7 AM and will continue till evening. The first phase marks the beginning of the biggest democratic exercise in the state this year.
Voting Under Tight Security Across 14 Districts
Voting is being held in Patna, Madhubani, Saharsa, Darbhanga, and Muzaffarpur districts, among others. The Election Commission has ensured 100% webcasting at all booths. In addition, the new Voter Information Slip (VIS) and EVM Net App have been introduced for real-time polling updates.
Meanwhile, special security arrangements have been made in rural areas to maintain peace. A total of 121 general observers, 18 police observers, and 33 expenditure observers have been deployed.
Voter Strength and Constituency Details
According to the Election Commission, Digha constituency has the highest number of voters — 4,57,657, while Barbigha has the least — 2,31,998 registered voters. In terms of area, Bankipur is the smallest assembly constituency (16.239 sq. km), whereas Suryagarha is the largest (62.247 sq. km).
Therefore, arrangements have been made to ensure smooth polling in both urban and remote constituencies. Moreover, continuous monitoring is being conducted through live CCTV feeds.
Districts Going to Polls in First Phase
The first phase covers Madhubani, Saharsa, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Begusarai, Khagaria, Munger, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Nalanda, Patna, Bhojpur, and Buxar districts. The Election Commission stated that all polling teams have reached their destinations safely and voting is proceeding peacefully.
Leaders Urge People to Vote in Large Numbers
After casting his vote in Patna, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav appealed to Bihar residents to come out and vote in large numbers. He urged citizens to think about their future, employment, education, and healthcare before pressing the EVM button.
In contrast, leaders from the ruling NDA have also expressed confidence about their victory. They highlighted the government’s work in infrastructure, electricity, and welfare schemes during their campaigns.
Technological Innovations in Bihar Assembly Election 2025 Phase 1
For the first time, the Election Commission has implemented webcasting and EVM Net App monitoring for real-time transparency. As a result, the polling data is being updated instantly from each booth.
In addition, special arrangements have been made for elderly voters and persons with disabilities. Volunteers are assisting them at polling booths, ensuring an inclusive election process.
