Grand Swearing-In at Gandhi Maidan
Nitish Kumar will take oath as the chief minister of Bihar today at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan. The ceremony begins at 11:30 am. A total of 18 ministers, including two deputy chief ministers, will also take oath. Meanwhile, security and seating arrangements have been strengthened to manage the large gathering.
On Wednesday, Nitish Kumar staked claim to form the next Bihar government after NDA leaders elected him as their leader. As a result, the alliance moved quickly toward today’s swearing-in ceremony. Moreover, the smooth coordination among NDA partners helped finalise the leadership decision.

The NDA, led by the JD(U) and BJP, achieved a sweeping victory in the Bihar 2025 elections. Altogether, the alliance secured 202 out of 243 seats.

Nitish Kumar Resigns, Then Stakes Claim Again
Nitish Kumar, 75, resigned as chief minister on Wednesday. Soon after, he met governor Arif Mohammed Khan and submitted his claim to form the new NDA government. Earlier, he was elected as the leader of the JD(U) and later of the NDA in Bihar. Therefore, the transition of leadership moved forward without delay.
18 Ministers Likely to Take Oath
Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha were elected the BJP’s legislature party leader and deputy leader. Hence, both are likely to continue as deputy chief ministers. In addition, NDA leaders discussed ministerial portfolios and the Speaker’s post during their meeting on Wednesday. Later, they finalised the list of ministers and shared it with the governor this morning.
