LJP(RV) Leads on 20 Seats
Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) is performing strongly in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. As of 12:30 PM, the party is leading on 20 out of the 29 seats it contested. This gives LJP(RV) an impressive conversion rate of 69%.
The party is leading in seats like Sugauli, Govindganj, Belsand, Bahadurganj, Kasba, Balrampur, Simri Bakhtiarpur, Bochahan, Darauli, Mahua, Parbatta, Nathnagar, Brahampur, Fatuha, Dehri, Obra, Sherghati, Bodh Gaya, Rajauli, and Gobindpur.
Comparison With 2020 Elections
In 2020, the undivided Lok Janshakti Party contested over 130 seats. It won only one seat, Matihani. That MLA later joined JD(U). The party also finished second in nine constituencies.
Despite this, Chirag Paswan’s campaign cut into JD(U)’s vote share. It reduced JD(U)’s seat count from 71 in 2015 to 43 in 2020. The LJP had also left the NDA at that time due to seat-sharing issues and contested more than 135 seats alone.
NDA Holds a Strong Lead
As counting progresses, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) appears set for a major victory. Early trends show NDA leading on 189 seats. BJP leads on 87, JD(U) on 75, LJP(RV) on 20, HAM on 4, and RLM on 3.
The opposition is trailing. RJD leads on 35 seats, Congress on 6, CPI(ML) on 7, CPI(M) and CPI on 1 each. BSP leads in one seat, while AIMIM is ahead in three.
A Crucial Election for Nitish Kumar
This election is a major test for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He has governed Bihar for nearly two decades. Once known as “Sushashan Babu,” he has recently faced voter fatigue and criticism. His shifting alliances also raised questions.
However, this year’s trends show renewed trust in his leadership. Many voters appear satisfied with his governance model.
Modi–Nitish Partnership Boosted NDA
The BJP-JD(U) alliance entered the election with a united strategy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi supported Nitish Kumar throughout the campaign. The alliance focused on development, welfare schemes, social support, and administrative stability.
This strong coordination between PM Modi and Nitish Kumar helped the NDA gain momentum. Their combined appeal has created a powerful electoral impact. As a result, the alliance seems close to a sweeping mandate in Bihar.
