Dehradun, March 23: Dehradun police have launched a detailed investigation after a 15-year-old girl was allegedly influenced and pressured to adopt different religious practices in the Doiwala area. Authorities have booked three individuals, including a woman, under the state’s anti-conversion law.
Complaint Triggers Police Action
The case came to light when the victim’s mother filed a complaint at Doiwala Police Station. She accused the individuals of luring her minor daughter into a relationship and influencing her beliefs.
Following the complaint, police immediately registered a case and began their investigation.

According to the mother, the family lived in a rented house along with nearby tenants. Over time, a man named Rashid frequently visited their home, especially when she was away.
She claimed that he gradually built a connection with her daughter and encouraged her to adopt different customs, including changes in dressing style, language, and behaviour. As a result, the girl reportedly began showing noticeable changes.

Police have taken the matter seriously and registered a case under Sections 3 and 5 of the Uttarakhand Freedom of Religion Act, 2018.
This law strictly prohibits religious conversion through:

- Fraud or misrepresentation
- Undue influence
- Allurement or marriage
Officials stated that they are actively collecting evidence and recording statements to ensure a fair investigation.
