A tragic incident shocked Dehradun on Monday when unknown assailants shot dead retired Army Brigadier VK Joshi during his morning walk in the Rajpur area.
🔫 Incident Details
The incident took place near Tula Apartments in Johri village. Brigadier Joshi was walking in the area when a bullet suddenly struck him. As a result, he collapsed on the spot and died instantly.
🚔 Police Statement
SP City Pramod Kumar confirmed the incident and stated that the victim was a retired Army officer. He further added that the attack occurred within the Rajpur police station limits and that police teams immediately reached the scene.
⚠️ Cause of the Firing
According to initial reports, the attackers did not target the Brigadier directly. Instead, two groups travelling in separate vehicles reportedly got into an argument. Soon after, the situation escalated, and both groups started firing at each other.
During this cross-firing, a stray bullet hit Brigadier Joshi.
Moreover, an eyewitness confirmed that people present at the scene mentioned firing between two vehicles at the time of the incident.
🔍 Investigation Underway
Currently, the police have started a detailed investigation. They are collecting CCTV footage, questioning witnesses, and trying to identify the vehicles involved.
In addition, authorities have increased security in the area to prevent further incidents.
This shocking incident has raised serious concerns about public safety in Dehradun. Therefore, authorities must take strict action against those responsible and ensure such incidents do not happen again.
