Dehradun, March 12: Savin Bansal reviewed the LPG availability and distribution system in Dehradun during a meeting at the Rishiparna Auditorium in the Collectorate on Thursday.
Officials from oil companies and gas agencies attended the meeting. The District Magistrate examined the supply of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders in the district. He also issued instructions to improve the distribution system.
Daily Monitoring of LPG Supply
The District Magistrate ordered the District Supply Officer to monitor LPG distribution every day. Oil company representatives will also sit in the Disaster Control Room for one hour daily.
Officials will track stock levels, backlog data, and customer complaints during the review.
Authorities have also set up a control room to handle complaints related to LPG and natural gas supply in the district.
Domestic Consumers Get First Priority
The administration will give first priority to domestic LPG consumers. This step aims to prevent inconvenience for households.
Gas agencies must deliver cylinders through an OTP-based home delivery system. This process will improve transparency and reduce irregularities.
Manual Booking Allowed During Technical Issues
Gas agencies must provide contact numbers for manual booking if online booking systems stop working.
Officials also informed that consumers can place the next LPG booking only after 25 days of the previous booking.
Authorities will inform consumers about this rule through bulk SMS messages and flex boards at agency offices.
Strict Action Against Illegal LPG Use
The District Magistrate directed Sub-Divisional Magistrates to conduct random inspections of gas agencies with police support.
Officials will check stock levels, delivery records, and backlog data during inspections.
Authorities will take strict action against illegal storage, black marketing, and unauthorized refilling. Officials may seal agencies if they find serious violations.
Action Against Commercial Use of Domestic Cylinders
Officials warned hotels and commercial establishments against using domestic LPG cylinders for business purposes.
Authorities will seize such cylinders and take legal action under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Hospitals and Hostels to Get Priority
The administration will prioritize hospitals and hostels in the distribution of commercial LPG cylinders. This step will ensure that essential services continue without disruption.
Currently, 72 gas agencies operate in Dehradun district. They supply LPG to 7.81 lakh domestic consumers and 19,624 commercial consumers.
The LPG supply comes from:
- Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) – Bhagwanpur
- Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) – Landhaura
- Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) – Badrabad and Loni (Ghaziabad)
