Pushkar Singh Dhami met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to discuss key development projects and future growth plans for Uttarakhand.
Focus on Development and Central Support
During the meeting, CM Dhami expressed gratitude to the central government for its continuous support in accelerating Uttarakhand’s development. He stated that the state is achieving new milestones due to strong cooperation with the Centre.
The Chief Minister also invited the Prime Minister to visit Uttarakhand for upcoming project inaugurations and foundation-laying ceremonies.
Key Approvals and Infrastructure Projects
Dhami thanked the Prime Minister for approving and supporting several major initiatives, including:
- ₹500 crore assistance for Haridwar Kumbh 2027
- Feasibility study under the river-linking project
- ₹100 crore for Chauraasi Kutiya development in Rajaji National Park
- MoU for Naini-Saini airstrip in Pithoragarh
- Support for helicopter services during the Char Dham Yatra
He also highlighted infrastructure developments such as:
- Underground electric lines in Rishikesh
- Champawat bypass
- Dehradun Ring Road
- Dehradun–Mussoorie road project
Tourism and Economic Growth Initiatives
The Chief Minister shared plans to develop Uttarakhand as a global wedding destination, with locations like Chopta, Duggalbitta, and Triyuginarayan gaining popularity.
Additionally:
- Spiritual Economic Zones are being developed in key regions
- Winter pilgrimage initiatives have increased tourist inflow
- Adventure tourism activities like rafting, paragliding, and kayaking are being promoted
Under the “Vocal for Local” initiative, local products are gaining global recognition through the House of Himalayas brand.
Boost to Connectivity and Industrial Development
Dhami requested central support for several connectivity and industrial projects, including:
- Extension of Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) to Haridwar and Rishikesh
- Defence manufacturing units in Uttarakhand
- Delhi–Haldwani Expressway
- Expansion of Pantnagar Airport
- Rail projects including Rishikesh–Karnaprayag and new connectivity lines
He emphasized that these projects will strengthen logistics, tourism, and economic growth in the region.
Reforms and Employment Initiatives
The Chief Minister also highlighted key reforms and schemes:
- Over 6,000 homestays registered under tourism initiatives
- Launch of Uttarastays portal for marketing homestays
- Farmer training and horticulture development programs
- Solar Self-Employment Scheme for rural livelihoods
- Entrepreneurship schemes supporting startups
- 10% reservation for Agniveers in state services
He added that the Uttarakhand Jan Vishwas Bill 2026 has simplified processes by removing outdated laws and improving ease of doing business.
The meeting between CM Dhami and PM Modi reflects a strong push toward infrastructure development, tourism growth, and economic reforms in Uttarakhand. With multiple projects in the pipeline, the state is set to witness accelerated development in the coming years.
