The sequel to the Oscar-winning film Godzilla Minus One has officially locked its release date. Titled Godzilla Minus Zero, the film will release in Japan on November 3, 2026, followed by its North American theatrical release on November 6, 2026, according to Deadline.
Director and screenwriter Takashi Yamazaki returns to helm the sequel, continuing the creative vision that earned global acclaim in 2023. The film will be distributed in North America by GKids.
Release Date Holds Special Significance
The Japanese release date coincides with Godzilla Day, which marks the original Godzilla film’s debut on November 3, 1954. Coincidentally, Godzilla Minus One also premiered in Japan around the same period on November 2, 2023.
Production Details Kept Under Wraps
The makers have not revealed details about the cast or storyline. Production is currently underway at Toho Studios. Robot is producing the film, while Shirogumi is handling visual effects.
The title Godzilla Minus Zero was officially unveiled during Godzilla Fest in November 2025, months after Toho announced the sequel in 2024.

GKids President David Jesteadt expressed excitement about the project. He said the sequel aims to build on the massive global success of Godzilla Minus One. He added that the new film deserves a full theatrical experience and called it a defining moment for the iconic monster franchise.
