“India is concerned about the situation in Venezuela. We urge all stakeholders to focus on the well-being and safety of the people,” Jaishankar stated. He added that India values its long-standing and friendly relations with Venezuela.
MEA Reiterates Call for Peace
Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) also voiced deep concern over the evolving situation in Venezuela. The ministry confirmed that it is closely monitoring developments on the ground.
According to the MEA, India strongly supports peace, dialogue, and regional stability. It called upon all concerned parties to resolve differences peacefully and avoid further escalation.
Advisory Issued for Indian Nationals
Meanwhile, the MEA issued a travel advisory for Indian citizens due to the unfolding situation. Indians have been advised to avoid all non-essential travel to Venezuela until further notice.
Additionally, Indian nationals currently in Venezuela have been urged to exercise extreme caution. They were advised to restrict movement and remain in regular contact with the Indian Embassy in Caracas.
The embassy is actively assisting the Indian community. Emergency contact details have also been shared to ensure timely support.
Global Reactions Remain Cautious
However, global reactions to the recent US action in Venezuela have been largely measured. Most countries have refrained from taking strong positions on the issue.
Former Indian Ambassador to Venezuela Y.K. Sinha described India’s response as balanced and responsible. He noted that New Delhi must consider its diplomatic relations with multiple global powers.
According to Sinha, many nations have avoided assigning blame at this stage. Therefore, India’s cautious approach reflects diplomatic maturity and strategic awareness.
India Maintains Balanced Diplomatic Stand
Overall, India continues to emphasize humanitarian concerns over political positioning. The focus remains on protecting civilians and restoring peace.
As the situation evolves, India has reiterated its commitment to dialogue, stability, and the safety of its citizens abroad.
