New York [US], April 3:
The Indian Permanent Mission to New York, along with the board of directors of the United Nations Development Partnership Fund, reviewed the fund’s operations on Friday. Both parties also discussed the fund’s future direction.
In a post on X, the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations said, “The Board of Directors of the India-UN Development Partnership Fund met today in the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations. The Board reviewed the Fund’s operations and took stock of the ongoing projects. They also exchanged views on the fund’s future scope.”
The India-UN Development Partnership Fund aims to promote shared prosperity in the global South. The fund collaborates with the multilateral system to help developing countries achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Established in 2017, the $150 million fund is led by the Government of India. It works with the United Nations system to support Southern-led, demand-driven, and sustainable development projects. The fund focuses on least developed countries and small island developing states.
The Commonwealth Window of the India-UN Development Partnership Fund seeks to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Commonwealth countries. These nations, many former British colonies, face unique challenges. The window helps support technical and sustainable development in these vulnerable states.
This initiative takes advantage of the shared history, values, and institutional knowledge among Commonwealth countries. It promotes sustainable, country-owned projects that make a real difference.
