Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi strongly condemned recent strikes on civilian infrastructure while addressing a session at the United Nations in Geneva. He stated that Iran will continue its defence efforts “as long as it is needed” amid escalating tensions.
Iran Condemns Attacks on Civilian Infrastructure
Araghchi criticized the United States and Israel for alleged attacks on civilian sites, including a reported strike on a school in Minab that resulted in heavy casualties.
He described the incident as a “war crime” and urged the international community to take a firm stand against such actions.
Call for Global Accountability
During his address, Araghchi warned that silence and inaction could worsen global instability.
He emphasized that:
- The principles of the United Nations are at risk
- The global human rights framework faces serious challenges
- Nations must hold those responsible accountable
He called on world leaders to act collectively and uphold international law.
Iran Reaffirms Right to Self-Defence
The Iranian Foreign Minister stated that Iran has never sought conflict but will continue to defend its sovereignty.
He highlighted that the country remains committed to protecting its people and territory against ongoing attacks, asserting that defence efforts will persist as long as required.
Claims of Widespread Damage
Araghchi also alleged extensive damage to civilian infrastructure, including:
- Schools and hospitals
- Ambulances and healthcare facilities
- Water sources and residential areas
He claimed that hundreds of schools have been damaged and many civilians, including students and teachers, have been affected during the conflict.
Ongoing Conflict in West Asia
The remarks come amid continuing military operations involving the US, Israel, and Iran. While diplomatic signals have hinted at possible pauses in hostilities, strikes continue across multiple regions.
Iran’s address at the United Nations reflects growing international concern over the conflict’s humanitarian impact. As tensions rise, global calls for accountability and peace are becoming increasingly urgent.
