The district administration visited Kedarnath Dham and reviewed on-ground preparations ahead of the temple’s reopening on April 22. Officials are actively working to ensure a smooth and safe pilgrimage experience in Uttarakhand.
Administration Accelerates Preparations
District Magistrate Vishal Mishra confirmed that teams are finalizing all arrangements for the upcoming yatra.
Currently, heavy snow (3–4 feet) covers the temple area. Therefore, teams are continuously clearing snow to restore accessibility. Once authorities complete this work, they will begin allocating shops and organizing local facilities.
Essential Services Being Restored
Meanwhile, the administration is actively restoring all key facilities before the pilgrimage begins. These include:
- Drinking water supply
- Electricity services
- Accommodation arrangements
- Healthcare support
As a result, officials aim to provide a comfortable and hassle-free experience for all devotees.
Security Measures Strengthened
Superintendent of Police Niharika Tomar reviewed security arrangements and ensured strict monitoring across the Dham.
Currently, police and ITBP personnel are deployed at key locations. Moreover, authorities plan to further strengthen security based on past experiences. They are also improving crowd management and emergency response systems.
Char Dham Yatra Schedule Confirmed
The Char Dham Yatra will begin on April 19, 2026, starting with:
- Yamunotri
- Gangotri
Subsequently:
- Kedarnath Dham will open on April 22
- Badrinath Temple will open on April 23
Religious Importance of the Yatra
The Char Dham Yatra holds immense spiritual significance in Hinduism. Devotees traditionally follow a clockwise route—starting from Yamunotri, then Gangotri, followed by Kedarnath, and finally Badrinath.
Additionally, pilgrims can travel via road or choose helicopter services for convenience.
