Chamoli, Uttarakhand, March 12: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has dismissed reports claiming a shortage of commercial LPG cylinders in Uttarakhand, calling them false rumours. He assured residents that the state government is closely monitoring the gas supply situation and that there is no shortage anywhere in the state.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Dhami said the government is taking strict action against misinformation. He added that senior officials have already been directed to review the situation and ensure that people do not face any inconvenience.
The Chief Minister stated, “We are taking strict action against rumours, and there is no such problem anywhere in Uttarakhand. We are keeping a close eye on the situation. I have instructed the Chief Secretary to review the supply system to prevent inconvenience or black marketing.”
Government Monitoring LPG Supply Across the State
Earlier, Ruchi Mohan Rayal, Commissioner of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, confirmed that the state government is actively monitoring LPG availability due to the ongoing geopolitical situation in the Middle East.
Officials said the department is conducting regular reviews in coordination with oil companies and state authorities to ensure the smooth supply of cooking gas across Uttarakhand.
Rayal clarified that there is no shortage of domestic LPG cylinders, and consumers should not worry about availability.
Centre Issues Natural Gas Supply Regulation Order 2026
Meanwhile, the Government of India has introduced the Natural Gas Supply Regulation Order, 2026 under the Essential Commodities Act. The order aims to maintain a stable gas supply system across the country in view of the ongoing global tensions.
Authorities confirmed that the supply of LPG, PNG, and CNG remains unaffected. In addition, the availability of commercial gas used in hospitals, educational institutions, and other essential services continues without any reduction in allocation.
District Officials Directed to Prevent Black Marketing
Following instructions from the central government, the Uttarakhand administration has directed all District Magistrates and oil companies to regularly monitor the availability of LPG, PNG, and CNG.
Officials have also been asked to ensure fair distribution and prevent hoarding or black marketing of gas cylinders anywhere in the state.
The government reiterated that citizens should not believe rumours regarding LPG shortages, as the supply system remains stable and under constant supervision.
