New Delhi, February 25, 2026: Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday criticised protests organised by the Indian Youth Congress during the AI Summit. He said the demonstration attempted to damage India’s global reputation.
Goyal shared several posts on social media platform X targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He claimed the protest reflected a political pattern that ignored national interests. He also used the hashtag Compromised Congress while attacking the opposition party.
Protest Sparks Political Controversy
Youth Congress workers staged a shirtless protest at Bharat Mandapam during the AI Impact Summit. Protesters accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of compromising national interests. Police detained several participants soon after the demonstration began.
Goyal stated that such protests create negative perceptions about India at international events. He argued that political disagreements should not undermine the country’s global standing.
Pralhad Joshi Questions Foreign Engagements
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi also criticised Rahul Gandhi’s 2024 visit to the United States. He raised concerns about meetings held with certain activist groups abroad. Joshi said public representatives must maintain transparency during international engagements.
He added that citizens deserve clarity whenever national interests become part of global discussions.
Youth Congress Leader Arrested
Authorities arrested Indian Youth Congress chief Uday Bhanu Chib in connection with the protest case. A Delhi court later granted four days of police custody for further investigation.
Officials alleged that Chib organised the unlawful gathering held on February 20, 2026. Investigators also claimed the protest attempted to create unrest at the summit venue.
Political Tensions Increase
The incident intensified political tensions between the BJP and the Congress party. Leaders from both sides continue to exchange allegations over nationalism and political conduct at international forums.
The controversy remains under investigation as political reactions continue across the country.
