Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched a sharp political attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a rally in Assam. He said that a “century of defeats” awaits Congress’s “self-proclaimed prince” in the upcoming elections.
PM Modi Confident of BJP Hat-Trick in Assam
Addressing a public gathering in Gogamukh, PM Modi expressed confidence in the BJP-led NDA forming the government for the third consecutive time.
He said the large turnout at the rally reflects strong public support. Therefore, he believes a hat-trick victory is certain in Assam.
Moreover, he described the last ten years as a period of “service and good governance” in the state.
Highlights of Assam Development Under the BJP
PM Modi praised the leadership of Sarbananda Sonowal and Himanta Biswa Sarma. He said Assam has seen rapid development under their guidance.
In addition, he emphasized that the upcoming elections are crucial for building a developed Assam and a stronger India.
As a result, the BJP is focusing on development-driven campaigns.
Key Promises in the BJP Manifesto
The Prime Minister highlighted several welfare schemes announced in the BJP manifesto.
For instance, over 15 lakh families are expected to benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Moreover, poor families will receive free education from kindergarten to postgraduate level.
In addition, the government aims to empower women through the Lakhpati Didi scheme. Around 3 lakh women have already benefited. The target is to reach 40 lakh women in Assam.
Focus on Welfare and Women’s Empowerment
PM Modi also spoke about expanding the Orunodoi scheme. This initiative aims to provide financial assistance and support to families.
Furthermore, he highlighted the success of housing schemes. Over 22 lakh families have already received pucca houses.
Therefore, the government plans to extend benefits to more households.
Assam Election Schedule and Political Contest
The Assam Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on April 9. Counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.
The election will cover all 126 constituencies.
Meanwhile, the BJP is contesting with allies like AGP and BPF. On the other hand, Congress is aiming to return to power.
