Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday highlighted India’s strong growth momentum. He called the start of the current quarter “very positive.” He also described a self-confident India as “a ray of hope for the world.”
Addressing the media ahead of the Budget Session 2026, the Prime Minister said India has become a centre of global attention. He linked this progress to steady reforms and economic growth.
India-EU FTA Signals Optimism
PM Modi said the quarter began on a positive note. India and the European Union signed a Free Trade Agreement during this period.
According to him, the agreement reflects the bright future of Indian youth. It also highlights India’s promising economic direction.
“A self-confident India has become a ray of hope for the world,” the Prime Minister said. He added that the country now attracts global attention.
FTA to Support Aspirational and Aatmanirbhar India
Highlighting the agreement’s importance, PM Modi called it Free Trade for Ambitious India. He also described it as Free Trade for Aspirational Youth and Aatmanirbhar India.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence in Indian manufacturers. He said they would use the opportunity to improve capabilities. He added that the agreement strengthens India’s competitiveness.
Budget to Reflect Reform Agenda
PM Modi said the Union Budget will reflect the government’s reform agenda. He highlighted the focus on reform, perform, and transform.
Referring to rapid policy progress, he said the government has boarded the “Reform Express.” He thanked Members of Parliament for their constructive role.
Human-Centric Governance Remains Key
The Prime Minister said government decisions remain human-centric. He stressed that welfare stays at the core of policymaking.
PM Modi said India is resolving long-pending challenges. At the same time, the government is working on long-term solutions.
He added that technology will support development. However, human sensitivity will not be ignored.
Focus on Viksit Bharat 2047
PM Modi reflected on the passage of one-fourth of the 21st century. He said the next 25 years are crucial.
According to him, this phase will shape the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
He also praised Nirmala Sitharaman. She will present the first Budget of the second quarter of the century.
PM Modi noted that Sitharaman will present the Union Budget for the ninth consecutive time. He called it a proud moment in parliamentary history.
