New Delhi, India – April 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged government officials to embrace the spirit of a “Karma Yogi” during his address at the Karmayogi Sadhana Saptah. He emphasized the importance of duty, technology, and long-term planning for a Viksit Bharat 2047.
Embracing the Spirit of a “Karma Yogi”
Speaking via video conference, the Prime Minister highlighted the inauguration of Seva Teerth and India’s commitment to a Viksit Bharat. He stressed the need for rapid economic growth, modern infrastructure, technology, and a skilled workforce. PM Modi called on government officials to immerse themselves in the sentiment of being a Karma Yogi, serving the nation with dedication and focus on the future.
“A few weeks ago, I spoke about our resolve for a Viksit Bharat when Seva Teerth was inaugurated,” PM Modi said. “To realise this dream, we need fast economic growth, modern infrastructure, technology, and a skilled workforce. Public institutions and servants have a crucial role to play in improving governance and quality of life.”
Vision for Viksit Bharat by 2047
The Prime Minister further elaborated on the vision for a Viksit Bharat by 2047. He said, “Before making every decision, think about what your duty asks of you. The impact of your decisions will increase manifold when you focus on their long-term effects on the country’s progress.”
He emphasized the shift from authority-driven administration to duty-driven governance, stating, “In the past, authority defined officers, but today, duty defines them. We must view our current efforts through the lens of a developed India in 2047.”
Role of Technology in Governance
PM Modi also stressed the growing importance of technology in governance. “The integration of technology in governance and administrative tasks over the past 11 years has proven powerful,” he said. “Now, with the arrival of AI, these changes will accelerate. Understanding and harnessing technology is essential for public service.”
Bridging Regional Gaps
PM Modi spoke about bridging regional gaps, saying, “We are eliminating the divide between forward and backward states. We must break administrative silos and ensure equitable development across regions.”
Karmayogi Sadhana Saptah 2026
The Capacity Building Commission launched Sadhana Saptah 2026 from April 2-8, a national initiative aimed at strengthening India’s civil services. The programme, coinciding with the Commission’s Foundation Day and Mission Karmayogi’s five-year anniversary, focuses on collaborative capacity building across Central Ministries, States, Union Territories, and over 250 Civil Services Training Institutions.
The initiative will feature webinars, workshops, and courses on the iGOT Karmayogi platform under the themes of Technology, Tradition, and Tangible Outcomes.
