New Delhi, March 18, 2026: Dilip Saikia said that Pradyut Bordoloi joining the BJP is a major blow to the Congress party ahead of the upcoming elections in Assam.

Firstly, Saikia described Bordoloi as a senior leader whose exit sends a strong political message.
“His joining BJP is a huge setback for Congress. It reflects the current situation within the party,” Saikia said.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Diganta Kalita welcomed Bordoloi’s move. He claimed that the decision has weakened Congress significantly in Assam.

On the other hand, Pradyut Bordoloi clarified that his decision was based on multiple issues within the party.
