New Delhi, February 20:
Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has called for rationalising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security protocols. She said excessive VIP arrangements disrupted the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi.
Chaturvedi attended the summit at Bharat Mandapam and expressed concern over traffic restrictions and restricted public movement during the event.
“Crazy Protocols” Disrupt International Events
In a post on X, Chaturvedi questioned why authorities impose strict movement restrictions when the government claims the internal security situation remains stable.
She said India should manage high-level security without shutting down public movement. According to her, many global summits abroad operate with minimal disruption to daily life.
She wrote:
“The country has voted for our PM for a third term. If internal security remains strong, why impose such extreme protocols that disrupt international events?”
She also raised a question about the use of artificial intelligence in crowd and traffic management.
“What use is AI if it cannot solve this issue?” she asked.
Galgotias University Robot Dog Controversy
The summit also sparked controversy involving Galgotias University.
The university allegedly displayed a Chinese-manufactured robotic dog as its own innovation during the AI Expo. The incident drew strong criticism on social media.
Chaturvedi described the act as a “shame” and demanded strict action. She said authorities should conduct thorough credibility checks before allowing institutions to showcase products at international platforms.
She added that the controversy damaged India’s image and the credibility of the summit.
Authorities later asked the university to vacate its pavilion.
Rahul Gandhi Criticises Summit
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi also criticised the event.
He called the summit a “disorganised PR spectacle.” He alleged that organisers showcased Chinese products instead of promoting Indian innovation.
His remarks intensified the political debate surrounding the AI Impact Summit 2026.
University’s Clarification
Professor Neha Singh from Galgotias University responded to the allegations. She said the institution never claimed ownership of the robotic dog.
She clarified that the robot came for research and student learning purposes. She also stated that the original branding remained visible on the device.
According to her, the university displayed the robot only for demonstration during the two-day event.
Debate Over Security and Event Planning
The incident has triggered a wider debate about event management and VIP security planning in India.
Experts believe authorities can use AI-driven traffic systems and smart crowd management tools to reduce inconvenience. They argue that India must balance security with smooth public movement, especially during global summits.
As India aims to position itself as a global AI leader, smoother coordination and stronger verification processes will play a crucial role in maintaining credibility.
