Chamoli, Uttarakhand | March 12, 2026: Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the Bharadi Devi Temple during his morning walk in Gairsain on Thursday and offered prayers for the welfare and prosperity of the people of Uttarakhand.
The Chief Minister bowed before the Goddess and prayed for the continued development and progress of the state. Devotees present at the temple also greeted the Chief Minister during the visit.
Focus on Spiritual Tourism in Uttarakhand
The visit comes shortly after the state government announced major investments to promote spiritual and religious tourism in Uttarakhand.
According to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, the government plans to strengthen the state’s identity as a global centre for pilgrimage and faith tourism.
Uttarakhand is home to several sacred religious destinations including the Char Dham pilgrimage circuit, the Ganga and Yamuna rivers, Adi Kailash, and multiple revered Shakti Peeths. These sites attract millions of devotees from India and across the world every year.
The state government aims to improve infrastructure around these spiritual destinations to boost tourism and create new economic opportunities.

Major Religious Projects Planned
The government has allocated funds in the 2026–27 state budget for several major projects to strengthen religious tourism in the region.
Key projects include:
- Development of facilities for the 2027 Ardh Kumbh Mela in Haridwar
- Construction of the Haridwar–Rishikesh Ganga Corridor
- Support for the Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra
- Development of the Saryu River Front
The government is also continuing work on the Badrinath-Kedarnath Reconstruction Project to improve facilities for pilgrims visiting these important temples.
Additionally, infrastructure development has begun around 48 temples under the Manaskhand Temple Mala Mission to preserve and promote the spiritual heritage of the state.
Government Plans to Strengthen Sports Infrastructure
During the Budget Session in Gairsain, Chief Minister Dhami also announced plans to expand sports infrastructure across Uttarakhand.
The state government has proposed the construction of mini stadiums in every block to support sports at the grassroots level.
After successfully hosting the 38th National Games, the government is focusing on building better sports facilities to encourage young athletes in the state.
Officials believe these initiatives will help Uttarakhand grow both as a major pilgrimage destination and a hub for sports development.
