New Delhi, India | March 24:
Rajnath Singh chaired a high-level meeting on Tuesday to review India’s security situation and defence preparedness amid rising global and regional tensions.
The meeting focused on assessing potential risks and ensuring readiness in light of the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
Top Defence Officials Attend Meeting
Senior military and defence officials attended the review meeting. These included:
- Anil Chauhan
- Amar Preet Singh
- Upendra Dwivedi
- Dinesh K Tripathi
- Defence Research and Development Organisation Chairman Samir Kamat
The discussion covered defence preparedness, strategic planning, and coordination among armed forces.
West Asia Conflict Raises Concerns
The review comes as the conflict in West Asia enters its fourth week. The situation has disrupted global trade routes, especially through the Strait of Hormuz.
The conflict has also impacted international energy markets and global economic stability.
PM Modi to Address Parliament
Meanwhile, Narendra Modi is expected to address the Rajya Sabha on the issue. He will likely discuss the impact of the conflict on India’s energy security.
A day earlier, Modi addressed the Lok Sabha and described the situation as “worrisome.” He said the conflict has serious economic, security, and humanitarian implications.
Impact on India’s Energy and Trade
The Prime Minister highlighted that a large portion of India’s crude oil and gas imports comes from the West Asian region.
He also noted that the region serves as a critical trade route for India. Any disruption could affect supply chains and economic stability.
India is closely monitoring the evolving situation in West Asia. The high-level review reflects the government’s focus on national security and preparedness amid growing global uncertainty.
