Significance of Army Day
Army Day, observed every year on January 15, commemorates the historic day in 1949 when Field Marshal KM Cariappa took over as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, succeeding British General Sir FRR Bucher after India’s independence.
The 78th Army Day celebrations highlighted the bravery, professionalism, and dedication of the Indian Army. Leaders and citizens alike paid tribute to the soldiers who continue to protect the nation with honour and selfless service.
