A tragic incident unfolded in Dehradun after a retired Army officer lost his life in a firing case linked to road rage. Mukesh Kumar Joshi, a retired Brigadier, died after a stray bullet hit him during a morning walk in the Rajpur area.
Stray Bullet Claims Life
According to police, the firing took place during a clash between two groups. The bullet struck the retired officer, who was immediately taken to a hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
4 Arrested, Several Absconding
Pramendra Dobal, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun, confirmed that four individuals have been arrested. Meanwhile, three others involved in the incident remain absconding.
Police have also seized both vehicles used during the clash.
Dispute Linked to Nightclub
Investigations revealed that the accused had visited the Gen Z Club a night before the incident. A dispute reportedly broke out over a bill, during which one group was allegedly assaulted by club staff.
Subsequently, the aggrieved group followed the club operators the next morning. The confrontation escalated in Johri village, leading to gunfire.
Club Sealed, Owner Arrested
Authorities have sealed the club located on Mussoorie Road. The club owner has also been arrested in connection with the case.
Additionally, police have recommended cancellation of the club’s license to the District Magistrate.
Police Assure Strict Action
Police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family. The area has been cordoned off, and further investigation is underway.
SSP Dobal assured that strict action will be taken against all accused, whether directly or indirectly involved.

The incident has raised serious concerns about public safety in Dehradun, especially regarding late-night disputes escalating into violence.
