Taipei, Taiwan | March 24:
Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defence (MND) detected multiple Chinese military movements near its territory on Tuesday. The activity included three sorties of PLA aircraft, nine PLAN vessels, and one official ship.
According to the MND, all three aircraft crossed the median line and entered Taiwan’s southwestern Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ).
Military Activity Raises Concerns
The Ministry of National Defence Taiwan confirmed that its armed forces monitored the situation closely and responded accordingly.
The presence of Chinese military assets near Taiwan has raised fresh concerns over regional stability. Such incursions have become more frequent in recent months.
Previous Day Activity Also Reported
On Monday, Taiwan reported the presence of seven Chinese naval vessels and three official ships near its waters. However, no aircraft activity was recorded during that period.
The repeated movements indicate sustained pressure from China in the region.
Ongoing China-Taiwan Dispute
China continues to claim Taiwan as part of its territory. Beijing considers the island an inseparable part of the country.
However, Taiwan operates as a self-governed entity with its own political system, military, and economy. It maintains a distinct identity despite ongoing pressure from China.
The dispute has deep historical roots and remains a major geopolitical issue. It also raises questions around sovereignty, self-determination, and international law.
Rising Regional Tensions
The increasing frequency of military activity around Taiwan highlights growing tensions in the Indo-Pacific region.
Experts warn that such developments could impact regional security and global stability if the situation escalates further.
Taiwan’s detection of Chinese aircraft and naval vessels signals continued military pressure from Beijing. With tensions rising, the situation remains sensitive and closely watched by the international community.
