Washington DC, US – April 2:
U.S. President Donald Trump issued a strong warning to Iran on Wednesday, stating that the country could face “extremely hard” military action in the next two to three weeks. Trump emphasized that the U.S. was “on the cusp” of ending what he called Tehran’s “sinister threat” to the U.S. and the world.
Trump’s Warning to Iran
In a national address, Trump revealed that the U.S. plans to take severe military action against Iran if diplomatic talks fail to resolve the ongoing conflict, which has lasted for over a month. He said, “We are going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks. We are going to bring them back to the stone ages, where they belong. In the meantime, discussions are ongoing.”
Regime Change and Military Action
Trump also confirmed that military action by the U.S. and Israel in Tehran has already led to significant losses in Iran’s leadership, though he stressed that regime change was not the goal of the intervention. Trump noted, “Regime change was not our goal. But regime change has occurred because of the deaths of all of their original leaders. They’re all dead.”
U.S. Targets Key Iranian Infrastructure
The President further stated that the U.S. had set its sights on critical energy infrastructure in Iran, warning that if no deal is reached during the diplomatic talks, the U.S. would target Iran’s electric generating plants. He said, “If no deal is made, we have our eyes on key targets. We are going to hit every one of their electric generating plants very hard, and probably simultaneously.”
A Turning Point in the Conflict
Trump concluded by reassuring Americans that the U.S. was close to achieving its objectives in the conflict. “Thanks to the progress we’ve made, I can say we are on track to complete all of America’s objectives shortly, very shortly,” he added. He also expressed confidence that the U.S. would soon be free from Iranian aggression and the threat of nuclear blackmail.
Background of the Conflict
This escalation comes after the U.S. and Israel carried out joint military strikes on Iran on February 28, leading to the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Tehran targeted Israeli and U.S. assets in several Gulf countries, disrupting international waterways and affecting global energy markets. Following Khamenei’s death, his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, was appointed as Iran’s new supreme leader.
As the conflict continues, diplomatic talks between the U.S. and Iran are still ongoing. The U.S. aims to resolve the situation through negotiations, but Trump’s warnings indicate that military action remains a serious possibility.
