Washington, March 10: US President Donald Trump on Tuesday warned Iran against attempting to block the Strait of Hormuz, saying the United States would respond with overwhelming force if Tehran tries to disrupt global oil shipments.
Trump made the statement while referring to the ongoing US military campaign “Operation Epic Fury”, which focuses on maintaining stability and protecting international energy supply routes in the Middle East.
The US President emphasized that Washington will not allow any attempt to threaten global oil markets.
US Warns Iran Over Global Oil Supply Disruption
Speaking on the issue, Trump said the United States remains committed to ensuring that oil and energy continue flowing smoothly to global markets.
“As we continue Operation Epic Fury, we are focused on keeping energy and oil flowing to the world. I will not allow a terrorist regime to hold the world hostage and attempt to stop the globe’s oil supply,” Trump said.
He also warned that if Iran attempts to interfere with oil shipments, the United States will respond strongly.
“If Iran does anything to disrupt oil supply, they will get hit at a much harder level. They better not play that game,” Trump added.
US Navy Strengthens Presence in Strait of Hormuz
Trump confirmed that the US Navy has increased its presence in the Strait of Hormuz to secure international shipping lanes.
He said the United States has deployed advanced equipment and naval ships to monitor maritime traffic and detect possible threats such as mines or attacks on oil tankers.
“The Strait of Hormuz is going to remain safe. We have many Navy ships there and the best equipment in the world to inspect for mines,” Trump stated.
According to US officials, the military deployment aims to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels through the region.
Strategic Importance of Strait of Hormuz
The Strait of Hormuz, located between Iran and Oman, connects the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea.
It is one of the most important oil transit routes in the world. A significant portion of global oil supply passes through this narrow waterway every day.
Any disruption in this route could impact global energy markets, oil prices, and international trade.
Rising Tensions Between US and Iran
Tensions between Washington and Tehran have intensified in recent weeks due to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.
The United States has repeatedly warned Iran against threatening international shipping routes in the Gulf region.
To prevent potential attacks on oil tankers, the US has increased naval patrols, surveillance operations, and maritime security efforts in the region.
Impact on Global Energy Markets
The Strait of Hormuz plays a crucial role in global energy security. Experts say that even a temporary disruption in this route could cause major fluctuations in oil prices and energy supplies worldwide.
Trump’s remarks highlight the United States’ commitment to keeping international sea lanes open and protecting the global energy supply chain.
The conflict between the US-Israel alliance and Iran has now entered its second week, raising concerns about further escalation in the Middle East.
