Washington DC, March 20: The United States has intensified its military operations in the Gulf region. Officials confirmed that US forces have destroyed 44 Iranian mine-laying vessels to prevent threats in the Strait of Hormuz.
US Targets Iranian Naval Threats
Gen. Dan Caine said the operations aim to stop Iran from mining the strait, a key global oil route.
He stated that US forces continue to target mine storage sites, naval ammunition depots, and vessels linked to Iranian operations.
He said, “We continue to hunt and eliminate threats, including vessels and mine-laying assets.”
Advanced Military Deployment
The US has deployed powerful air support to the region:
- A-10 Warthog for attacking fast boats
- AH-64 Apache for coastal operations
The A-10 Warthog, known for its heavy firepower, can fire up to 4,200 rounds per minute, making it highly effective against naval targets.
Strategic Importance of Hormuz Strait
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical oil routes. Any disruption could impact global energy supplies and trade.
US officials said these actions aim to ensure safe passage for commercial and military vessels.
Ongoing Military Operations
US Central Command continues to expand operations in the region. Reports suggest that Marines may conduct ground missions targeting missile and drone facilities along Iran’s coast.
Meanwhile, Pete Hegseth said the US remains “on plan” in its operations but did not provide a timeline for the conflict’s end.
Rising Regional Tensions
The conflict between the US and Iran has entered its third week. Both sides have increased military activity, raising concerns about global security and energy stability.
