Singapore, March 18, 2026: A United States Navy warship, the USS Tripoli, has been tracked near Singapore as it heads toward the Gulf region. Reports suggest the vessel is carrying additional Marines amid rising tensions in West Asia.
USS Tripoli Spotted Near Malacca Strait
According to maritime tracking data, USS Tripoli approached the Malacca Strait near Singapore after sailing from Okinawa on March 11.
The warship traveled through the South China Sea at a speed of around 22 mph. Tracking systems showed the vessel’s movement as it entered one of the world’s busiest maritime routes.
Marines Deployment to West Asia
Reports indicate that USS Tripoli is transporting Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), a rapid-response force of around 2,200 personnel.
The deployment follows Pentagon orders to strengthen US presence in West Asia. Currently, around 50,000 US troops are already stationed in the region.
