Dehradun, January 8 : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday met the parents of late Ankita Bhandari and assured them of justice and full government support.
The meeting took place at the Chief Minister’s residence in Dehradun. Ankita’s father Virendra Singh Bhandari and mother Soni Devi shared their grief and concerns with the Chief Minister.
CM Dhami listened to the family with sensitivity and empathy. He said the state government stands firmly with them.
The Chief Minister said delivering justice in the Ankita Bhandari murder case remains the government’s highest priority. He also assured the family of all possible assistance and positive action on their demands.
Delhi High Court Orders Removal of Social Media Posts
On Wednesday, BJP leader and advocate Gaurav Bhatia welcomed the Delhi High Court’s order directing Congress and AAP to remove social media posts related to the case.
The court asked the parties to delete posts that allegedly linked BJP leader Dushyant Gautam to the murder. The court found the content defamatory and unsupported by facts.
Speaking to reporters, Bhatia said the order upheld the rule of law. He called it a strong response to political misinformation.
He added that Congress, AAP, and Urmila must remove the posts within 24 hours.
Ankita Bhandari Murder Case: Background
Ankita Bhandari, a 19-year-old resort receptionist in Uttarakhand, went missing in September 2022. Police later recovered her body from a canal.
Investigators found that Ankita faced pressure to provide sexual favours to guests. The resort belonged to Pulkit Arya, son of a former BJP leader.
A trial court later convicted Pulkit Arya and two others. The court sentenced them to life imprisonment.
The case continues to draw public attention. The Uttarakhand government has reiterated its commitment to justice for Ankita and her family.
