Dehradun, March 18, 2026: The Uttarakhand government carried out a major administrative reshuffle across key departments, especially in the energy sector. The move aims to improve efficiency and strengthen governance.
Key Changes in Energy Corporations
Firstly, the government removed several senior officials from top positions:
- Anil Kumar removed as Managing Director of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL)
- Sandeep Singhal relieved as MD of UJVNL
- Ajay Agarwal removed as Director (Projects) at UPCL
Additionally, the government reassigned responsibilities to ensure continuity in operations.
New Appointments and Additional Charges
Meanwhile, the state assigned new responsibilities:
- Gajendra Singh Budiyal given additional charge of UPCL
- Ajay Kumar Singh assigned additional responsibility in UJVNL
These changes reflect the government’s effort to streamline leadership in the energy sector.
Changes in Temple Committee Leadership
In another decision, Vijay Prasad Thapliyal was relieved from his role as CEO of the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee. He has now been sent back to his parent department.
Focus on Environment and Development
At the same time, scientists from the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) presented a study on ecological balance to Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan.
The study focused on environmental impact during the Badrinath Corridor Development Project.

Earlier, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched multiple development projects in Tehri Garhwal.

Dhami emphasized timely completion of all projects and improving basic infrastructure in hill regions.
