India Under-19 batter Vedant Trivedi expressed pride and happiness after the team won the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026. He called the victory a “dream for every cricketer.”
Vedant said he felt proud to be part of the title-winning squad. He also said he tried to deliver whenever the team gave him an opportunity.
Trivedi Happy With His Performances
Speaking to ANI, Vedant said he felt satisfied with his performances in the tournament. He especially highlighted his innings against Pakistan.
“I am very happy that whenever I got a chance, I played well for the team. I am also very satisfied that I played a good innings in the Pakistan match,” Vedant said.
Long-Term Goal: India Senior Team
The young batter also shared his long-term goal. He said he wants to represent the India senior men’s team in all three formats.
“My goal is to play for the India senior men’s team in all three formats for a long time,” he added.
Super Sixes: Key Knock Against Pakistan
During the Super Sixes clash, Vedant Trivedi top-scored with 68 runs off 98 balls. No other Indian batter crossed 35 in the match.
Thanks to his steady innings, the side posted 252 in 49.5 overs. Later, the bowlers dismissed Pakistan for 194, sealing a 58-run win.
“Lifting the Trophy Felt Like a Dream”
Vedant said the trophy moment felt unreal.
“When we lifted that trophy, it was like a dream come true,” he said.
Sooryavanshi’s Masterclass in the Final
In the final against England, India opted to bat first and posted a massive 411/9.
Star batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi produced a stunning knock of 175 off 80 balls, smashing 15 fours and 15 sixes.
Captain Ayush Mhatre also played a key role with 53 off 51 balls, while Abhigyan Kundu added 40 off 31 balls.
England’s Fightback Fell Short
England lost an early wicket but built momentum through Ben Dawkins (66 off 56).
Later, Caleb Falconer struck a powerful 115 off 67 balls, but England still fell short.
The England team got all out for 311, handing India a historic win.
Record-Breaking Final
The match produced a combined total of 722 runs, which became the highest match aggregate in a U-19 World Cup final.
Sooryavanshi also won the Player of the Tournament award after scoring 439 runs. He set a new record for the most sixes in a single U-19 World Cup innings with 15 sixes, breaking the earlier record of 12.
