Defence Minister Attends Special Screening in New Delhi
New Delhi, December 22:
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended a special screening of the upcoming war drama ‘Ikkis’ in the national capital on Sunday.
During the event, he interacted with lead actors Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat. He also felicitated the family members of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who made the supreme sacrifice during the 1971 India-Pakistan war at the age of 21.
Honouring a Braveheart’s Sacrifice
Rajnath Singh honoured the family of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, Param Vir Chakra (PVC) awardee, along with the next of kin of his tank crew.
Sharing moments from the event on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Defence Minister praised the bravery and sacrifice of the young war hero.
“Arun Khetarpal fought valiantly in the 1971 war and made the supreme sacrifice for the nation. The film Ikkis showcases his bravery and celebrates the courage of our Armed Forces,” Singh wrote.
He also wished the film’s cast and crew success in their future projects.
‘Ikkis’ Brings 1971 War Hero’s Story to the Big Screen
The film ‘Ikkis’ is based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra. It stars Agastya Nanda in the lead role.
The supporting cast includes Jaideep Ahlawat, Suhasini Mulay, Sikander Kher, and Rahul Dev.
The film also features Dharmendra in his posthumous screen appearance, adding emotional depth to the story.
Trailer Highlights Courage and Legacy
The final trailer of Ikkis was recently released. It offers a powerful look into the life of the war hero and features intense battlefield sequences.
One of the most moving moments comes when Dharmendra’s character reflects on Arun Khetarpal’s legacy, saying he will “always be 21.”
Release Date and Direction
Directed by Sriram Raghavan, Ikkis was earlier scheduled to release on December 25. The makers have now shifted the release date to January 1, 2026.
The film is set to hit theatres in less than two weeks.
