Haridwar (Uttarakhand), December 29:
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Haridwar Pramendra Singh Dobal has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a fair, transparent, and impartial investigation into the Laksar firing incident involving notorious gangster Vinay Tyagi, police officials said on Sunday.
The decision came a day after Vinay Tyagi succumbed to bullet injuries at AIIMS Rishikesh, three days after bike-borne assailants attacked him while police were escorting him to a court hearing in Laksar near Roorkee on December 24.
Attack Took Place While Gangster Was in Police Custody
According to police officials, the firing incident occurred in the Laksar police station area when attackers opened fire on Vinay Tyagi in broad daylight while police were taking him to court. The incident triggered serious concerns over security arrangements and law and order in the district.

“Our teams chased the accused who carried out the deadly attack on gangster Vinay Tyagi while he was being taken to court. We have achieved a breakthrough and arrested both suspects,” SSP Dobhal said.
Accused Confess During Preliminary Interrogation
Police identified the arrested men as Sunny Yadav alias Shera and Ajay, both residents of the Kashipur area. During preliminary questioning, both accused confessed to their involvement in the crime, SSP Dobhal said.
Police continue further investigation to identify any additional conspirators involved in the attack.
