New Delhi | February 16, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Mumbai on Tuesday to meet French President Emmanuel Macron. The two leaders will inaugurate the India-France Year of Innovation 2026, according to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
President Macron will visit India from February 17 to February 19 at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi. During the visit, Macron will participate in the AI Impact Summit 2026 hosted by India and also hold a bilateral summit with PM Modi in Mumbai.
Macron’s Fourth Visit to India
This will be Emmanuel Macron’s fourth visit to India. It will also be his first visit to Mumbai, the statement said.
The visit comes at a time when India and France continue to deepen cooperation in several strategic areas.
Bilateral Talks at Lok Bhavan
As per the PMO statement, PM Modi and President Macron will hold bilateral engagements at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai, around 3:15 PM on February 17.
The leaders will review the progress of the India-France Strategic Partnership. Discussions will also focus on strengthening the partnership and expanding it into new and emerging sectors.
Both sides will also exchange views on regional and global issues.
India-France Year of Innovation 2026 Launch at 5:15 PM
Around 5:15 PM, PM Modi and President Macron will officially inaugurate the India-France Year of Innovation 2026.
The leaders will address a gathering of:
- Business leaders
- Start-ups
- Researchers
- Innovators from India and France
The Year of Innovation initiative will be celebrated throughout 2026 in both countries. It aims to boost cooperation in innovation, technology, research, and people-to-people exchanges.
Innovation Forum and Cultural Commemoration in Mumbai
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Mumbai will also host multiple India-France events during Macron’s visit.
The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel will host an India-France Innovation Forum. The leaders will also participate in the India-France Year of Innovation and Cultural Commemoration event at the Gateway of India.
The MEA also said that both leaders will exchange MOUs and deliver a press statement.
Macron’s Visit Linked to AI Impact Summit 2026
Macron’s India visit will take place alongside the AI Impact Summit 2026, which is being held from February 16 to February 20 in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the India AI Impact Expo 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The summit is being positioned as the first major international AI summit hosted in the Global South, with a focus on responsible, inclusive, and impactful AI.
