New Delhi/Tehran, April 4, 2026:
India strengthened its strategic defence capability on Friday. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh presided over the commissioning of INS Aridhaman (S4) in Visakhapatnam. The submarine is the third vessel in the Arihant-class of nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines.
INS Aridhaman now supports India’s nuclear triad. The Strategic Forces Command will operate the submarine as part of the country’s deterrence system. Officials kept the ceremony low-profile due to the programme’s sensitive nature.
Meanwhile, tensions rose sharply in the Gulf region. Iran claimed it shot down two U.S. military aircraft in separate incidents. This marks the first time American jets have gone down since the conflict began nearly five weeks ago.
Reports confirmed that rescue teams saved one U.S. service member. Another crew member remains missing, and teams continue search operations. The situation remains tense as developments unfold.
The escalation follows recent remarks by former U.S. President Donald Trump. He stated that the United States had weakened Iran and would act quickly to end the conflict. The latest incidents suggest a sharp rise in tensions.
These developments highlight India’s growing defence strength and rising global instability. Experts expect the situation to remain sensitive in the coming days.
