Guwahati, April 8: Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya remained positive despite his team’s defeat to Rajasthan Royals (RR). At the same time, he praised young opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for his fearless batting.
RR delivered a strong performance in a rain-shortened match. First, Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed an unbeaten 77 off 32 balls. Additionally, Sooryavanshi played a quickfire knock of 39 runs in just 14 balls. As a result, RR posted 150/3 in 11 overs.
In response, MI struggled from the start. They failed to build momentum and kept losing wickets. Consequently, they were restricted to 123/9 and dropped to seventh place in the points table.
🔍 Bowling Cost MI the Match
After the game, Pandya admitted that the bowlers did not perform well.
He said the team failed to execute the right deliveries. Moreover, he added that T20 cricket depends on small moments and accurate bowling.
According to him, the batting unit was not the main issue. Instead, the bowling group needed to take responsibility. If they had executed better, MI could have stayed in the game.
🌟 Sooryavanshi Impresses Everyone
Meanwhile, Pandya was highly impressed with Sooryavanshi’s performance.
He said it was exciting to see such a young player bat with confidence. Furthermore, he praised his fearless approach and shot selection.
Pandya also mentioned that RR’s openers changed the game early. Because of their aggressive start, MI lost control quickly.
