New Delhi, April 9, 2026: Early voting trends for the 2026 Assembly Elections show moderate participation, with Assam recording 17.87% voter turnout and Kerala registering 16.23% turnout by 9 AM, according to data released by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Puducherry reported a turnout of 17.41% during the same period.
Polling Underway Across Three Regions
Polling began at 7 AM for high-stakes assembly elections across:
- 126 seats in Assam
- 140 seats in Kerala
- 30 seats in Puducherry
The counting of votes is scheduled for May 4, 2026.

In Kerala, over 2.6 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes across 140 constituencies.
