Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh): Poet and public figure Kumar Vishwas sharply criticised comments by the Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister during a speech in Moradabad on Tuesday. He spoke at the district administration’s Udeesha program, where he was narrating the Ram Katha and addressed contemporary cultural and national issues.
Vishwas pointed to remarks attributed to a South Indian leader, whose grandfather he said had a name “synonymous with the name of Ram.” He questioned the leader’s claim about the non-existence of Lord Ram, arguing that if Ram does not exist, “then where did his grandfather come from?”
Supporting All Indian Languages, Opposing Political Tactics
Vishwas stated that Tamil is a “wonderful language” and that every Indian wishes to see its promotion and growth, along with other languages such as Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Bengali. However, he called language opposition for political ends “a political tactic.”
He also urged people in Hindi-speaking regions to read the works of great scholars of South Indian languages, hoping that any tendency to oppose regional languages would end.
Broader Remarks on National Strength and Security
In the same address, Vishwas touched on defence and national resolve. He said the era when a country could attack India and leave is over. He spoke about India’s economic potential, saying the nation could fund major temple projects and still have resources to spare.
Vishwas also warned that India would no longer take terror attacks lightly. He stated that if anyone enters Bharat and spreads terrorism, India will find and target them wherever they hide, emphasizing what he called the determination of “New India.”
