New Delhi [India], February 3:
The India women’s national football team secured a 1-0 victory over German side Hertha BSC Frauen in a friendly match played in Antalya, Turkey, on Monday.
According to the All India Football Federation (AIFF), Grace Dangmei scored the winning goal in the 37th minute. Her strike proved decisive as the Blue Tigresses continued their preparation for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026.
The match took place at the S&B Sport Football Complex in Serik. India controlled the tempo well and defended strongly to maintain the narrow lead until full time.
Preparation for AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026
The Indian women’s team is currently training in Antalya as part of its build-up for the continental tournament. The squad will remain in Turkey until the first week of February.
After completing the Turkey leg, the team will shift its base to Perth, Australia. India will begin its Asian Cup campaign against Vietnam on March 4 at the Perth Rectangular Stadium.
More Friendly Matches Scheduled
India will play two more friendly matches during the tour. The team will face Zvezda-2005 Perm of Russia on February 4 at the same venue in Serik. The match will kick off at 5:30 PM IST.
Following that, the Blue Tigresses will take on Romania’s FK Csikszereda Miercurea Ciuc on February 7.
Earlier, India played out a goalless draw against WFC Spartak Moscow in a closed-door friendly on January 30 at the Side Star Sports Complex in Manavgat.
India U17 Women Suffer Defeat in SAFF U19 Championship
Meanwhile, the India U17 women’s national team lost 0-2 to Bangladesh in the SAFF U19 Women’s Championship in Pokhara, Nepal.
Bangladesh scored both goals in the first half through Arpita Biswas in the 29th minute and Alpi Akter in the 40th minute.
The India U17 side is competing in the higher age-group tournament as part of its preparation for the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup. Head coach Pamela Conti made two changes to the starting XI from the previous win against Nepal.
