Panaji (Goa) [India], February 3:
Rajasthan Lions defeated Delhi Warriors by 23 runs in a closely fought match of the World Legends Pro T20 League, but still finished second on the points table due to net run rate.
The 14th league match saw both teams already qualified for the semi-finals. However, the contest remained crucial as the top spot on the table was at stake.
Rajasthan Lions Post Competitive Total
Delhi Warriors won the toss and chose to bowl first. Their bowlers controlled the innings well in the middle overs.
Suboth Bhati led the attack with an outstanding spell of 5 for 24 in four overs. He broke key partnerships and slowed Rajasthan’s scoring rate.
Despite the pressure, Rajasthan Lions gained momentum at the death. Abhimanyu Mithun played a blistering cameo, scoring 33 runs off just seven balls. His late assault lifted Rajasthan to 185 for 7 in 20 overs.
Eoin Morgan anchored the innings with a well-paced 87 off 53 balls.
Delhi Warriors Fall Short in the Chase
Rajasthan Lions struck early with the ball and kept Delhi under constant pressure. Regular wickets prevented Delhi from building partnerships.
Pawan Negi provided resistance with a fighting 66 off 38 balls. However, the lack of support from the other end hurt Delhi’s chase.
The Warriors were eventually bowled out for 162 in 19.1 overs.
Anureet Singh played a crucial role with the ball for Rajasthan. He finished with figures of 2 for 15 and ensured the Lions defended their total comfortably.
Points Table Scenario
Although Rajasthan Lions won the match, Delhi Warriors finished at the top of the league table. Both teams ended the league stage with eight points.
Delhi claimed the top position due to a superior net run rate, while Rajasthan settled for second place.
