Alipurduar (West Bengal), April 16, 2026:
Ahead of the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, BJP MP Manoj Tigga expressed strong confidence that the party will win all five seats in Alipurduar district once again.
Speaking to ANI, Tigga said the BJP had achieved a clean sweep in the district during the 2021 elections and would repeat the same performance in 2026. He stated that voters in Alipurduar continue to support the party due to its development agenda and commitment to local issues.
BJP Targets Repeat Victory in Alipurduar
Tigga said that leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress, including Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, would fail to secure any seats in Alipurduar this time.
“In 2021, we won all five seats in this district. This time too, all our candidates will win. The BJP will fulfil its promises,” he said.
He added that the party has strengthened its grassroots presence and built strong connections with voters in the region.
Key Issues: Unemployment and Tea Garden Workers
BJP candidate Lakshman Limbu from Madarihat constituency highlighted major local issues, particularly those affecting tea plantation workers.
He said workers in tea gardens face low wages and poor working conditions. According to him, the BJP plans to address these concerns by improving minimum wages and ensuring better facilities.
Limbu also raised the issue of unemployment and said the current government has failed to create enough job opportunities for youth in the state.
Allegations Against State Government
Another BJP candidate, Deepak Barman from Falakata constituency, criticised the state government over corruption and governance issues.
He claimed that unemployment and corruption have become major concerns for people in West Bengal. He also said that voters are looking for change and better governance.
Barman expressed confidence that the BJP would benefit from public dissatisfaction and perform strongly in the elections.
Multi-Cornered Contest in Alipurduar
The Alipurduar constituency will witness a competitive, multi-party contest. Key candidates include:
- Paritosh Das (BJP)
- Suman Kanjilal (TMC)
- Shyamal Roy (CPI-M)
- Mrinmoy Sarkar (Congress)
All parties are actively campaigning to gain voter support ahead of polling.
Election Schedule and Background
Polling for the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 will take place in two phases on April 23 and April 29. The results will be declared on May 4.
In the 2021 elections, the Trinamool Congress secured a major victory with 213 seats. However, the BJP emerged as a strong opposition by winning 77 seats, showing significant growth in the state.
