Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], April 15
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured a convincing 32-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their latest IPL clash. Spinner Noor Ahmed played a key role with a brilliant spell, helping his team defend a competitive total.
Noor Ahmed picked up 3 wickets for 21 runs, turning the game in CSK’s favor. His performance broke the momentum of KKR’s chase at a crucial stage.
Noor Ahmed Credits Pitch and Strategy
Speaking after the match, Noor Ahmed expressed happiness about contributing to the team’s win. He said the pitch conditions worked in his favor.
“The ball was not coming well onto the bat, and I tried to use that to my advantage. It gives me a lot of confidence,” he said.
He also highlighted the importance of adapting to conditions and changing pace while bowling. According to him, varying pace remains an effective tactic on any surface.
KKR’s Chase Falls Apart After Strong Start
KKR started their chase well and reached 79/2, building a solid partnership between captain Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi.
However, Noor Ahmed changed the game by dismissing key players, including Rahane, Cameron Green, and Rinku Singh. This sudden collapse reduced KKR to 90/6, putting them on the back foot.
KKR eventually finished at 160/7, falling short of the target.
CSK’s Batting Sets the Foundation
Earlier, after being asked to bat first, CSK posted a strong total of 192/5 in 20 overs.
- Sanju Samson scored 48 runs
- Dewald Brevis added 41 runs
Both batters played aggressive innings to give CSK a solid platform.
For KKR, Kartik Tyagi was the standout bowler with two wickets.
Points Table Update
With this win, Chennai Super Kings registered their second consecutive victory after losing their first three matches. They now have four points and have moved up the table.
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders remain winless this season. They have suffered four defeats and one no-result, placing them at the bottom of the standings.
Noor Ahmed’s match-winning spell proved decisive in CSK’s victory. His ability to read pitch conditions and execute variations played a crucial role. As the tournament progresses, CSK will look to build on this momentum, while KKR must regroup quickly to stay competitive.
