Pathankot, Punjab | January 6, 2026:
Punjab Police arrested a 15-year-old boy in Pathankot for allegedly sharing sensitive national security information with Pakistan-based terror agencies, including the ISI and Pakistani military officers.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pathankot Daljinder Singh Dhillon confirmed the arrest on Monday. He stated that the teenager remained in contact with Pakistani agencies for nearly a year.
Contact Established Through Social Media
According to SSP Dhillon, Pakistani handlers contacted the minor through social media platforms. Over time, they gained his trust and manipulated him emotionally. As a result, the teenager started sharing videos of sensitive locations.
Additionally, the accused believed that someone had murdered his father. However, police investigations found no evidence to support this claim. This emotional distress made him vulnerable to online manipulation.
Shared Sensitive Videos and Information
Police officials revealed that the teenager recorded and sent videos of important locations to his handlers. Moreover, he communicated with Pakistan-based gangsters who operated an ISI-backed terror module.
“He shared sensitive videos and stayed in touch with gangsters linked to terror networks in Pakistan,” SSP Dhillon said.
Investigation Still Ongoing
Meanwhile, security agencies have launched a detailed investigation. Officials are examining digital devices, social media accounts, and communication records. They aim to identify handlers, funding channels, and possible local links.
Background: ISI-Backed Terror Module Busted Earlier
Earlier on December 2, Punjab Police, along with central and state agencies, busted an international ISI-backed terror module in the region. The module had links to a grenade attack on a police station in Gurdaspur.
DIG Border Range Sandeep Goyal stated that the group planned multiple attacks to trigger communal tensions. The module operated under terrorist Shahzad Bhatti, along with Zeeshan Akhtar and Amandeep Singh alias Aman Pannu.
Police arrested two operatives and recovered weapons, which helped prevent another major attack.
Growing Concern Over Youth Radicalisation
Authorities have raised concerns over the increasing use of social media to radicalize young individuals. Therefore, police urged parents to monitor online activities and report suspicious behavior immediately.
Further updates will follow as the investigation progresses.
