New Delhi, January 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended heartfelt greetings to the personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on the occasion of its Raising Day, praising their unwavering commitment, professionalism, and courage in times of crisis.
Taking to social media platform X, the Prime Minister lauded the NDRF for always being at the forefront during natural and man-made disasters. He highlighted the force’s vital role in saving lives, providing relief, and restoring hope under the most challenging circumstances.
“On the Raising Day of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), we extend our deepest appreciation to the men and women whose professionalism and resolve stand tall in moments of crisis. Always at the forefront when a calamity strikes, NDRF personnel work tirelessly to protect lives, provide relief and restore hope,” the Prime Minister wrote.
PM Modi further stated that the skills, dedication, and sense of duty displayed by NDRF personnel represent the highest standards of public service. He added that the force has earned global respect and has become a benchmark in disaster preparedness and emergency response.
“Over the years, the NDRF has emerged as a benchmark in disaster preparedness and response, earning much respect internationally,” he emphasised.
Along with the message, the Prime Minister shared photographs showcasing NDRF personnel engaged in rescue, relief, and disaster management operations across the country and tagged the official NDRF handle.
Amit Shah Praises NDRF’s Role in Building Disaster-Resilient India
Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his greetings to the NDRF on its Raising Day. In his message, Shah described the force as the “pillar of trust” the nation depends on during emergencies and disasters.
He underlined the NDRF’s significant contribution toward achieving the government’s vision of a disaster-resilient India and paid tribute to the brave personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
“Warm greetings to the personnel of NDRF on Raising Day. Through its significant role in realising the Modi government’s resolve to build a disaster-resilient India, the NDRF has become the pillar of trust the nation relies on during calamities. Salute to the martyrs who sacrificed themselves for the safety of others,” Shah wrote.
About NDRF
The National Disaster Response Force was raised on January 19, 2006, as a specialised, multi-skilled force to respond swiftly to natural and man-made disasters across India.
The NDRF handles a wide range of emergencies, including:
- Earthquakes and collapsed structure rescue
- Floods and cyclone-related operations
- Landslides
- Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) emergencies
- Medical emergencies and urban search-and-rescue missions
Currently, the force is strategically deployed across the country with 16 battalions and 28 Regional Response Centres. The NDRF Academy is located in Nagpur, where personnel receive advanced training in disaster response and management.
