Colombo, February 11:
Pakistan batter Sahibzada Farhan said his team will face India with a “different mindset” in their upcoming group-stage match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Pakistan will take on India on February 15.
Farhan made the statement after Pakistan defeated the USA by 32 runs at the Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo, on Tuesday.
Farhan Confident After Two Wins
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Farhan said Pakistan feel confident after winning two matches and topping the group table.
“When you win two matches and are at the top of the table, you feel confident. We have played against India before, and this time we’ll play with a different mindset,” Farhan said, as quoted by the ICC.
Farhan’s 73 Powers Pakistan to 190/9
Farhan played a key role in Pakistan’s win with a powerful knock of 73 off 41 balls.
His innings included:
- 6 fours
- 5 sixes
Pakistan posted 190/9 in 20 overs.
Farhan said scoring 190 was a strong total even though the pitch supported batting.
“The pitch was amazing, but making 190 on such a pitch was also a big deal,” he said.
Pakistan Build Strong Partnerships
Pakistan started aggressively with openers Saim Ayub and Farhan crossing 50 runs in the fifth over.
However, USA bowler Shadley van Schalkwyk struck early. He dismissed Ayub and captain Salman Agha, leaving Pakistan at 56/2 after the powerplay.
Farhan then rebuilt the innings with Babar Azam. The duo added an 81-run partnership.
Azam scored 46 before getting out.
Farhan later completed his first half-century in T20 World Cups.
Shadab Khan Helps Pakistan Finish Strong
All-rounder Shadab Khan added quick runs with 30 off 12 balls, helping Pakistan push the total close to 200.
USA Fall Short While Chasing 191
Chasing 191, the USA started well and scored 42 runs in the powerplay.
Pakistan’s bowlers then tightened the game. Mohammad Nawaz broke the opening stand.
Shadab Khan also took key wickets and played a crucial role in the field.
Bowler Usman Tariq picked up 3 wickets, including two in consecutive deliveries.
Despite fighting knocks from:
- Shubham Ranjane (51)
- Shayan Jahangir (49)
USA finished at 158/8, losing by 32 runs.
Farhan Calls India Match “Normal”
Farhan said the India-Pakistan clash should not be treated differently.
“It’s a normal match. We won’t put it in our head that this is an India-Pakistan match,” he said.

With this win, Pakistan sit at the top of Group A with 4 points from 2 wins.
