Moga, Punjab, March 14: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Bharatiya Janata Party will form the government in Punjab in the 2027 Assembly elections. He also claimed that only a BJP government can effectively eliminate the drug menace in the state.
Shah made these remarks while addressing party workers and supporters at the “Badlav Rally” in Moga.
BJP Targets Punjab Government Over Drug Issue
During his speech, Amit Shah said Punjab is facing serious challenges, including drug abuse, gangster activity, corruption, and rising debt.
He stated that the BJP aims to bring change in the state and make Punjab free from drugs.
According to Shah, the situation in Punjab has worsened due to the growing influence of gangsters and increasing financial problems.
Criticism of AAP Government
Shah also criticised the government led by Bhagwant Mann and accused the Aam Aadmi Party of mismanaging the state.
He alleged that the Punjab government is functioning under the influence of leaders from Delhi. Shah also criticised AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, claiming that state resources were being misused.
According to him, Punjab’s Chief Minister should focus on governance rather than supporting political activities in other states.
Tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur
During the rally, Amit Shah also paid tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur for his sacrifice in protecting religious freedom.
He highlighted the Guru’s role in safeguarding the rights of Kashmiri Pandits during the Mughal era.
Punjab Political Background
In the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) achieved a major victory by winning 92 out of 117 seats.
The Indian National Congress won 18 seats, while the Shiromani Akali Dal secured three seats. The BJP managed to win two seats in the Assembly.
BJP’s Focus on 2027 Elections
With the 2027 Assembly elections approaching, the BJP has started strengthening its political campaign in Punjab. Party leaders say their focus will be on addressing issues such as drug abuse, law and order, and economic development.
Amit Shah expressed confidence that the BJP will gain the support of the people of Punjab and form the government in the next Assembly elections.
